Nova Bar and Restaurant was opened in 2003, having just celebrated our tenth year anniversary. THANK YOU to our great having just celebrated our tenth year anniversary. THANK YOU to our great staff and all of our wonderful friends and regular customers for helping us reach this hallmark. We are proud to operate in such a great neighborhood. The space housing Nova has been in continuous operation as a restaurant since the 1920's. Notable namesakes of the past include Infusion (1996-2003) and Cava 555 (1990-1996) It is rumored to have been a "speakeasy" during prohibition. Nova is a small, friendly and familiar place that has been likened to a local "Cheers" by many loyal customers. Owners Elliot Feldmurk, Matty Goo and Jeff Cox have combined many years of bar and restaurant experience, having been partners in previous San Francisco businesses including the Holy Cow and Whiz Wit. "We try to provide a great atmosphere for celebration" says Elliot, who has been known to pour generous (and gratuitous) portions of fernet on occasion as a rite of passage to those who enter. "The vibe is casual and sophisticated at the same time" continues Elliot.. "I think that is why we appeal to such a wide range of customers. It's not hard to find your comfort zone here."
