Welcome to El Tamarindo…our dream, our pride, 30+ years in the making. We, Jose and Betty Reyes came to Washington DC like thousand of Salvadorans in the early 1980’s. We came with the vision of putting down roots and building a life in a new home. In 1982, we went from handyman and dishwashing jobs to establish El Tamarindo Restaurant in Adams Morgan–on the idea that neighbors wanted a great place to sit-down and have a hearty meal with Central American flavor. Through hard work and the expertise of amazing friends and employees, El Tamarindo became a very successful and staple restaurant for the nation’s capital. With eyes towards new culinary developments our menu is built on time-tested favorites and our own sauces and marinades are made right in our kitchen. At El Tamarindo you will enjoy fresh and flavorful food in a comfortable, neighborly environment. Join us for a tart margarita, a perfect pupusa and simply a wonderful experience.
